Neal Jackson was born in Nottingham, England, and began his cooking career as an apprentice at the Savoy Hotel in London. After continuing in London at The Caprice Restaurant, Neal moved to Australia in 1971 and quickly carved out a highly awarded reputation in regional WA restaurants before moving to Perth and opening Jackson’s in 1998.
Neal’s understated and innovative style belies big flavours, a strong sense of humour and a highly intelligent and adventurous approach to food. He has been awarded a wide range of accolades in his time at the pinnacle of Perth dining, including Restaurant and Catering Institute of Australia’s National Award for the Best Modern Australian Restaurant, and is currently featured in Australian Gourmet Traveller’s Top 100 restaurants in Australia.
